I got an email from DreamWorks TV once asking if they could turn Sherlock Academy into a TV show.
I thought it was a brilliant idea. Hogwarts for detectives? Sounds perfect. FC Shaw worked on some treatments to send over, and we pitched the idea back to DreamWorks TV.
We haven’t heard back… yet.
That was years ago, before the streaming wars. Networks and streamers need new content more than ever before. I’m not ready to give up.
In the meantime, I’ve met with DreamWorks features, Jim Henson Studios, and more, pitching our titles.
We even got into several rounds of conversations about Floater becoming a movie.
There’s been quite a bit of interest from one producer in Etherwalker as a live action VFX film.
This is the master plan: sell the TV rights to some of our books to one of the networks or streamers. Then make an animated (or live action) TV show at the studio.
Kidscreen
Kidscreen in Miami is just the place where TV show deals are made.
I was there last week, hearing from executives at Disney Branded Content, Amazon Kids, Warner Brothers, and more.
These are the steps:
Go there.
Try to be awesome. It helps now that Future House has a whole slate of bestselling titles, and when you look at our web page, the covers are stellar. The stories are amazing. It also helps that Future House is a studio that builds animated content. We told everyone about the Transformers game we made (the one I mentioned in my last email).
Meet the right people. It’s not easy. It’s a very busy conference and everyone is trying to pitch just a few select buyers.
Have killer pitch material. An animatic. A show bible. Great art.
The stars align. It has to fit the mandates from their network. They just have to happen to take a chance on you.
I’ll go more into what an animatic and pitch bibles are in a future post. It’s an art form in itself.
It’s kind of like a teaser for your show.
I’ll keep you posted on the quest to make good TV, and how you can get an insider’s view as it progresses.

And Another Thing…
Sword of the Week: Lion-O’s Sword of Omens from Thunderkats.
The blade of the Sword of Omens can extend or retract, being in the form of a dagger when resting, and a full-length Longsword form when at full strength and power. The blade itself is near indestructible, shown to be extremely strong, durable, and razor-sharp.
Book Recommendation: Sherlock Academy, because it would make a great TV show.

This is so cool. Thanks for sharing your insights into the industry, Adam. I’m consistently impressed by all of the hard work you and your team put in. I purchased Etherwalker and it’s on my TBR list for this year. Can’t wait to read it and hopefully write a review.
I worked on an animated comic with Nanomyte Studios a few years back and they reached over 54k reads. Very neat concept and the team were amazing. I wrote a prequel novella for them as well. Mike, the creator, pitched it to several studios but didn’t get any bites unfortunately. But their work is still impressive and remains available on Wattpad here: https://www.wattpad.com/story/56004889-injection
